NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is a Special Health Board, responsible for supporting NHS services to the people of Scotland through the development and delivery of education and training for all NHSScotland staff. Our vision is Quality Education for a healthier Scotland and our mission is to provide educational solutions that support excellence in healthcare for the people of Scotland.
NES have developed and implemented a national approach and guidance to support and develop Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) roles in nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals at levels 2 to 4 of the Career Framework for Health. The HCSW Toolkit provides access to all the guidance and resources required for HCSW role development.
NES consult closely with NHS Boards at an individual and regional level through our strategic engagement process to achieve a common understanding of what we need to do to support them. We also maintain strong links with UK regulatory and professional bodies such as Royal Colleges and in Scotland, the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) are key partners. We also work closely with Scotland's Colleges and Universities, Skills for Health and Skills Development Scotland.
